United States Software Design Invitational
Hey there! I've heard you have an idea that could change the world and that would get you to launch your own Start-Up!
Here's what you need to do:
Using Microsoft tools and technology, create an innovative software application that helps address one of the eight United Nations Millennium goals. Competitors are asked to demonstrate innovation on the .NET Framework and Windows platform but the possibilities only begin with these requirements. Globally, students in this invitational conceive, test, and build their ideas into applications that can change the world!
Have you qualified for the Semi-Final Round? If so, HERE ARE THE STEPS TO TAKE TO SUBMIT YOUR PROJECT!

- Download and work on the submission requirements.
- Submit your entry!
Competition Timeline and Rounds:
Qualifying Round:
*** All Qualifying Round Submissions should be complete ***
Must be submitted by January 22nd, 2009, 11:59pm PST.
All Teams that submit in the Qualifying round by January 22nd will be eligible to submit an entry in the National Semi-Finals.
National Semi-Finals:
Due between January 23rd and March 8th, 2009 at 11:59pm PST.
Top 15 teams move to National Finals. Teams moving on will be announced by March 12th, 2009.
National Finals:
Held in Cambridge, MA in May 2009. Microsoft will fly the top 15 teams out to compete.

Prizes US Finals
Fifteen (15) Round 2 Finalist Prizes:An opportunity for each member of the Team to travel to the location of the US finals, as a guest of Microsoft, to compete in the United States Finals (Trip includes roundtrip airfare and lodging, Approximate Retail Value (ARV), US$4,800.00).
One (1) Grand Prize:Your team will have the choice of either a cash prize of US$8,000 to be distributed equally among each member of the Team, or a US$16,000 award in the form of a Microsoft sponsored NCIIA e-team grant (www.nciia.org) to be distributed to your university as seed funding for further development and commercialization of your innovation.
Each team member will also be afforded an opportunity for to travel to Cairo Egypt as a guest of Microsoft, to compete in the Imagine Cup 2009 Worldwide Software Design Invitational Final. One (1) First Runner Up Prize:Your team will have the choice of either a cash prize of US$4,000 to be distributed equally among each member of the Team, or a US$8,000 award in the form of a Microsoft sponsored NCIIA e-team grant (www.nciia.org) to be distributed to your university as seed funding for further development and commercialization of your innovation.
One (1) Second Runner Up Prize: Your team will have the choice of either a cash prize of US$3,000 to be distributed equally among each member of the Team, or a US$6,000 award in the form of a Microsoft sponsored NCIIA e-team grant (www.nciia.org) to be distributed to your university as seed funding for further development and commercialization of your innovation.
