Welcome to the
Design Competition Invitational

The Imagine Cup is a high energy global competition that challenges students to explore creative possibilities to help solve the toughest problems facing us today.

We invite Design Students to participate in any of these three competitions: Design, Photography, and Short Film.

Why participate?

  • Learn and strengthen the technical and interpersonal skills you need to build up your resume.
  • Potential exposure to Agencies.
  • You'll get the chance to prove your talent and make a difference by submitting a project that changes the world.
  • You'll be the potential winner of up to $8,000 for your team and all expense trip to the Imagine Cup World Wide Finals in Cairo, Egypt, in July 2009!

Who is invited?

Any actively enrolled student at an accredited 2 year, 4 year, or advanced degree granting educational institution can participate.

Round 2 – from April 2, 2009 to May 20, 2009
Worldwide Finals - July, 2009

Design

The object of the Design Competition is to create a solution of an innovative design for easier machines and human interactions by inspiring students to use the power of technology as means to manifest their creativeness. The new, innovative design must bring a real benefit and address the challenges of the 2009 Imagine Cup Theme.

What to Submit?

Round 1

  • A depiction of your design solution idea in visual form.
  • A short description of your design.

Round 2

  • A final, fully implemented version of your design solution using at least one of the Microsoft Expression products.
  • A video presentation of your design solution.
  • A description of how your design solution addresses the Imagine Cup 2009 Theme. Photography

Photography

The object of the Design Competition is to create a solution of an innovative design for easier machines and human interactions by inspiring students to use the power of technology as means to manifest their creativeness. The new, innovative design must bring a real benefit and address the challenges of the 2009 Imagine Cup Theme.

What to Submit?

A photo essay of up to twelve (12) pictures that presents a compelling story relating directly to the eight (8) UN Millennium Goals.

Short Film

In this competition, students will be challenged to create an original short film and also demonstrate excellence in filmmaking at all levels from concept art to polished editing.

What to Submit?

A digital storyboard of your short film idea that incorporates the planned technical execution and techniques OR a first cut of your short film that addresses the Imagine Cup theme.
