Round 2 / Overall Challenge Results:

We received a number of compelling prototype applications in the final round of the contest. After a careful review, we would like to congratulate the following teams for their winning entries:

WINNING TEAM:

The Green Machine - Adam Lonczynski and Marius Indrei, College of Creative Studies, Michigan

Entry: “The Microsoft Ecommunity is an online community for people concerned with the state of the environment. Built on user submissions, the Ecommunity is a massive growing database of Green products and the stores where they are available. The Ecommunity takes advantage of the new and exciting technologies offered by Microsoft such as Windows Mobile, Surface, Live Maps, SYNC, and the Microsoft Fingerprint Reader.”

FIRST RUNNER UP:

Entry: “Ambiance is the newest social networking experience built on the Silverlight 2 platform where all the users have green thumbs. Ambiance provides an environment for everyone to learn, share, meet new friends, and make a different with the environment.”

SECOND RUNNER UP:

McFly - Ryan McCarthy and Sean McCarthy, College of Creative Studies, Michigan

Entry: “The G Application is used to cut back on/eliminate the use of paper receipts and plastic rewards cards used in stores. Uploaded to your phone, G wirelessly connects your phone to stores’ registers to transfer data back and forth without using any paper or plastic. The receipt information can then be categorized and sent from your phone to a database where the user can view his/her receipts on G.”
