Welcome to the
US Game Design Invitational (Viewer's Choice)
General Guidelines – North America Competition
- 1- 4 team members
- 1 faculty mentor is strongly suggested
- Competitors must apply the Imagine Cup 2008 theme into their projects: "Imagine a world where technology enables a sustainable environment."
- 1 game per team
- 160 teams will advance to Round 2
- 20 teams will be ranked as top 20
- 3 teams will advance to the National finals in LA
- All presentations and documentation for the first, second, and final rounds must be in English
Required Elements
Round 1
During Round 1 your Team must create and submit the materials described below:
- Game Demo (Vertical Slice)
A game that has at least one (1) playable level that reflects what the gameplay and features will be like in the finished version. Final graphics are not required. - Game Design Summary
In 500 words or less, briefly describe the game premise and unique gameplay features. The Game Design Summary must be in English. - Gameplay Instructions
Instructions for how to play the game. The Gameplay Instructions must be in English.
Optional Elements: (NOTE: These elements do not count towards judging)
- Game Development Plan - Technical plan and schedule for completing your game during the completion. The Game Development Plan must be in English.
- Storyboards - Anything from stick figures to mocked up screen shots to a simple box diagram of how your game will be organized from start to finish.
Round 2
During Round 2, your Team must submit the following required elements:
- Game
A fully playable version of your game that contains at least one (1) level. The game must be based on the same game you submitted in Round 1 of the Contest. - Screenshots
Three (3) screenshots of your game. The screenshots must capture the gameplay and style of the game as accurately as possible, and should contain no unfinished artwork or graphical artifacts. - Gameplay Instructions
Instructions for how to play the game. The Gameplay Instructions must be in English. - Game Trailer
A short video (:30 to 2 minutes) of a game comprised of both in-game and cinematic content used to market and build awareness of a particular title
